Swansea Pride 2021

This colourful and bright festival will be coming to the Museum Green and National Waterfront Museum for another day of celebration on 2 May 2021.

Swansea Pride 2021

In the build-up to Pride, the area hosts projects and activities. In 2019, we saw a new event every day, that hyped people up for the big party on the weekend. Alongside this, every year the festival has a major sponsor who helps bring the event together and presents a theme. This year’s sponsor hasn’t been confirmed, but there’s no doubt that it will be the biggest Pride this city of Wales has ever seen.

This Pride is particularly exciting because it’s more than just a festival. Local groups come together to show their support, and events such as ballroom dancing and drag parties have taken place. This year you can expect the same, including stalls with charities and organisations who promote and support all themes surrounding the LGBTQIA+ community.

This Pride is also held in the spring, which means you can dedicate your less-busy period to this week-long hub of celebrations.

Swansea Parade

And of course, there is a massive parade that sees the vibrant supports marching through the city centre. In previous years, you’ve had to register to be a part of the procession.

The parade typically starts at 11am and when finished, the festival begins!

This will be a whole day filled with live entertainment and a food festival! Swansea has hosted celebrities such as Charlie Brooks, and Chris Norman in previous years. As it gets late, lots of local venues on Wind Street and High Street stay open so you can carry on the party there.

Although it’s an event open to everyone; your whole family, friends or even just to have fun by yourself, some of the event during the week have been ticketed in the past. The prices range from £5-£25 generally with some discounted tickets for concessions available. Booking in advance is highly advised.

The festival will be free, with small requests for donations if possible. All proceeds go to local LGBTQIA+ charities.
